How to: Start Your Refill Journey

A huge misconception of zero-waste living or refilling is that you have to do all or nothing! And that simply isn't the case. 

Pick One Room

I always advise people that come into the store to pick one room and slowly start there. Your whole entire house doesn't have to be zero-waste or eco-friendly in one go. By choosing one room, it allows it to be less overwhelming, dipping your toes in rather than jumping in with both feet. 

When I first started my journey in 2019, I started with my laundry room. I started using clean laundry detergent, ditched my dryer sheets and swapped them out for wool dryer balls and I started using the Buncha Farmers Stain Stick- if you haven't tried the stain stick, it's an inexpensive, tried, tested and true swap!

It's Not As Expensive As You Think

The second misconception with going zero-waste, refilling or choosing to purchase eco-friendly products is that it's "crazy expensive".

We hear this A LOT in our store. If you're anything like most families (including myself) before refilling, you probably have a big laundry jug in your recycle bin, 1 maybe 2 dish soap bottles, a shampoo and conditioner bottle and maybe even a lotion bottle- bring those and use them to refill for years! We encourage our customers to bring their own container from home. This way you only pay for the product you're filling. This is the most inexpensive way to start your refill journey!

Now, we're not saying you can't purchase a Pinterest inspired amber glass bottle! You totally can. But for those who worry it's $$, bring in those Tide laundry jugs and FILL FILL FILL!

You'll Use Less Product!

Yup, you read that right! All of the products we (and most refill stores) carry are super concentrated meaning you don't need as much of our products as you do traditional brands. This is because a lot of those big names use water in their product, not us! You will use less and therefore it will last you longer... and save you money!

 How To Start:

1. Choose Your Container: BYOC- Bring Your Own Container. Bring your own laundry jug, dish soap container, mason jar, etc. Looking to upgrade your container? We have tons for you to choose from
2. Choose your product. We have everything you could imagine, from laundry detergent to shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and cleaning products! All our bulk items are free of all the harmful ingredients and chemicals. Made in Canada! Safe for septics.. and our environment!! 3. Choose How Much You Want: the beauty of refill is you can try a little to see if the product is right for you or purchase a full laundry jugs worth! We weigh your container so you're only paying for what you take!
4. Take it home and use your new product! Come back and refill again and again. The more you fill, the more we save those containers from the landfill!!
